Personal Style - Modern Vs Vintage?

Its been quite a while since my last blog, in which time I have had a lovely Christmas with family in Australia, been camping - no easy feat with 4 children, but fun and never a dull moment - completed a lot of commission work and had time to reflect on my personal furniture style.

While I am a strong advocate of vintage shabby chic style furniture, as it is well made, has personality and the paint finish is perfect with children, I also love modern pieces as well and I am always trying get the combination just right. This means that many furniture pieces passo through my home.

I have come to the conclusion that style is personal and as long as you love a piece and it works for you - go for it!! There is no need to subscribe solely to one particular "style" or "era" or to be restrained about what you should or should not have in your home. If it gives you pleasure to look at something and it serves its purposes, why not.

Recently I purchased some new 'Panton' chairs to go around my vintage dining table and I love the effect, not to everyone's taste but it works for me. Now to find a nice vintage chandelier...

I've also been busy reupholstering some lovely old cane chairs, experimenting with a bit of colour...
